BBC Mega Mela Awards Show to be held in
Birmingham
London, Oct 25 (PTI) Bollywood stars will perform at the 'BBC Mega Mela Awards
Show 2002' at Birmingham on Nov 30 to celebrate Asian achievement, culture and
lifestyle.
Leading action hero of the blockbuster hit film 'Dhadkan', Akshay Kumar, leading
actress of 'Pardes', Mahima Chaudhry and Ghazal maestro Punkaj Udhas will
perform on the stage, BBC, Birmingham, announced Friday.
Others who participate in the event are 'Junoon', Asia's biggest rock band and
multi-award winning sensations, International Bhangra star Hans Raj Hans and
Pakistani pop diva Hadiq Kiani.
There will be 12 awards to honour unique and talented individuals across various
sectors of the community. They include Community Award, Achievement in
Enterprise, Young Achievers Award and Achievement in Media.
The judging panel will include Bob Shennan, controller of Radio 5 Live, Lord
Navnit Dholakia, George Algiah, News presenter and correspondent of BBC, Linda
Mitchell, Head of BBC Diversity, Nina Wadia, actress and Ram Gidoomal,
entrepreneur.
Paresh Solanki, Editor of the Asian Programmes Unit, BBC Birmingham, said: "This
year's event is a fantastic platform for Asian achievement across the world and
such a gathering of Asian talent outside sub-continent is seldom seen, if not
unprecedented.
