Indian singer Sonu Nigam and Pakistani rock band Junoon wowed a packed crowd of around 12,000 people, who attended the `Jaan Yehi Dosti Hai' show.

The decade-old Junoon rock band was the first to come on stage. Band members Salman Ahmed, Ali Azmat, Brian O'Connell and their three percussionists played a number musical scores. Sonu Nigam and his 23-member troupe immediately followed the band. Nigam sang some of his musical hits like Deewana, Jaan, Tera Rang Balle Balle, Munda Kamal Hai, Bijuria, Sandese Aate Hai, Tu and Yeh Dil Deewana, news reports said.

According to Gulf News, the show continued into the wee hours of the morning with the artistes speaking about their desire for promoting peace between their two neighboring countries. They also praised the organisers of the show for taking the initiative to bridge differences through music. The musicians closed the show, singing to each other's tunes - Dosti, Tu, Sayonee, Tera Rang Balle Balle.

Earlier, addressing a press conference, Brian O'Connell and Ali Azmat of Junoon and Sonu Nigam expressed their happiness about performing together on stage.

"Junoon believes in building cultural bridges. Our music, like the poetry of Sufi Muslims of the subcontinent, believes in peace, tolerance and love for all people," said Ali.

"Junoon commands great respect in the hearts of Indians," said Nigam, adding that he was privileged to be performing with them.

Both Junoon and Sonu Nigam have performed in Dubai before, but individually. Junoon had also come to India two years ago and performed successfully there.(India Abroad News Service).
