Indo-Pak music concert
makes history in Dubai

History was created in Dubai when a huge crowd was treated to music concert that
featured an Indian singer and a Pakistani music group sharing the stage together
for the first time.
Indian singer Sonu Nigam and Pakistani rock band Junoon wowed a packed crowd of
around 12,000 people, who attended the `Jaan Yehi Dosti Hai' show.
The decade-old Junoon rock band was the first to come on stage. Band members
Salman Ahmed, Ali Azmat, Brian O'Connell and their three percussionists played a
number musical scores. Sonu Nigam and his 23-member troupe immediately followed
the band. Nigam sang some of his musical hits like Deewana, Jaan, Tera Rang
Balle Balle, Munda Kamal Hai, Bijuria, Sandese Aate Hai, Tu and Yeh Dil Deewana,
news reports said.
According to Gulf News, the show continued into the wee hours of the morning
with the artistes speaking about their desire for promoting peace between their
two neighboring countries. They also praised the organisers of the show for
taking the initiative to bridge differences through music. The musicians closed
the show, singing to each other's tunes - Dosti, Tu, Sayonee, Tera Rang Balle
Balle.
Earlier, addressing a press conference, Brian O'Connell and Ali Azmat of Junoon
and Sonu Nigam expressed their happiness about performing together on stage.
"Junoon believes in building cultural bridges. Our music, like the poetry of
Sufi Muslims of the subcontinent, believes in peace, tolerance and love for all
people," said Ali.
"Junoon commands great respect in the hearts of Indians," said Nigam, adding
that he was privileged to be performing with them.
Both Junoon and Sonu Nigam have performed in Dubai before, but individually.
Junoon had also come to India two years ago and performed successfully
