Junoon hands over cheque of Rs. 6 hundred thousand to
UN

Junoon songwriter and guitarist Salman Ahmad, together with Pervez Iqbal of BBCL
delivered, on 9 March at UNIC, the first installment of funds derived from their
effort to raise funds for Afghan refugees and internally displaced persons.
Well known pop singer Salman Ahmad of Junoon Group handed over a Cheque of Rs.
six hundred thousand to Eric Falt, Director United Nations Information Center
for United Nations Afghan Refugees Fund in a ceremony held here at United
Nations Information Center (UNIC) Saturday. Salman Ahmad who is also working for
UNAIDS for the elimination of AIDS from the world organized music concerts for
fund raising for the war affected Afghan refugees and Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs). While addressing on the occasion he said that, as being human
beings it was their duty to help their Afghan brethren. "We, Junoon Group,
collected funds for Afghan refugees through our musical concerts held at
Islamabad College for Women and these funds now being handed over to UN for
their distribution among Afghan Refugees" he said. Salman thanked to Pervez
Iqbal of BBCL for providing logistic support to Junoon Group for organizing
concerts for Afghan refugees. He said that all-Pakistani stars from Film and
Sports took part in their concerts which is a message to world that we are
united for peace.
